> Damien Herlihy is an Australian language teacher and learner — TESOL-trained, a former IELTS examiner and EAP teacher, co-founder of TEC (a language school in Trat, Thailand), and creator of Language Layouts. This site is his "digital universe": a digital garden of notes, essays and patterns on language teaching, learning how to learn, AI in education, and personal knowledge management.

## About Damien

Born and raised in Brisbane, Australia. Travelled and fell for South East Asia, did a CELTA in
London, then taught children in Bangkok before getting serious — a Master of Teaching English as a
Second Language, then English-for-Academic-Purposes teaching in Melbourne (wearing many hats:
teacher, coordinator, IELTS examiner, action researcher). Met his wife and together opened TEC, a
language school in Trat, Thailand, which he now helps run remotely. Today he writes here and builds
Language Layouts — Notion templates for teachers and learners who want a system that actually works.

The site is a "digital garden" (after Maggie Appleton), reframed with a space theme: stars (notes),
constellations (patterns), and galaxies (essays), plus a library of book/resource notes.
